Where the Sunset Light Meets the Lake
A relaxed family photography session above Lake Tahoe, shaped by movement, connection, and the last light of the day.

Lake Tahoe never really needs much added to it. The landscape does most of the work — granite, pine, open water, and that unmistakable evening light.
For this family session, we kept things simple. A little walking, a little wind, quiet portraits mixed with movement, and plenty of space for everyone to fall into their own rhythm. Some frames were composed, others happened in between.
As the sun moved lower, the lake shifted from blue to silver and then warmer tones began to settle across the rocks. Those final minutes became some of my favorite photographs from the session, understated, cinematic, and very much about the place.
That is what I love about photographing families in Lake Tahoe. The scenery is beautiful, of course, but it works best when it stays part of the story rather than becoming the whole story. The photographs should still feel like the people in them.
A summer evening, a family together, and Lake Tahoe in the background. Nothing needed to be forced.
