Multifamily Tahoe Photo Session
West Shore Lake Tahoe Family Photography | Tahoe City Sunset Session

There's something about the West Shore of Lake Tahoe at golden hour that makes everything feel a little more alive and when you add a crew of energetic kids, five families, and the kind of laughter that echoes off the water, you get a session that's pure magic from start to finish.
This multifamily session took place along the West Shore near Tahoe City, right as the sun began its slow descent behind the Sierra Nevada. The light was everything — that warm, honeyed glow that only lasts for a few precious minutes — and these families made every second of it count.
From the moment we arrived, the kids set the tone. Chasing each other, splashing at the water's edge, and generally refusing to stay still which, honestly, is exactly how the best Lake Tahoe family photos happen. Authentic, energetic, and full of the kind of joy that you can't manufacture or pose.
Multifamily sessions at Lake Tahoe are one of my favorite things to photograph. Whether it's siblings who grew up together, longtime friends making summer traditions, or cousins reuniting at the lake, there's a layered warmth to these sessions that single-family portraits simply can't replicate. The chaos is the magic.
If you're planning a Lake Tahoe family photo session, especially along the West Shore near Tahoe City, Homewood, or Meeks Bay sunset is almost always the move. The light is softer, the crowds thin out, and the energy of the day naturally winds down into something a little more relaxed and real.
